What’s the best iPhone in 2017? Apple currently sells five iPhone models in its stores and online. But which is the one you should buy? Or should you just wait for the heavily rumoured iPhone 8?
Here we run through the main reasons why you’d buy each iPhone, from the latest iPhone 7 Plus to the diminutive iPhone SE.
The iPhone 7 Plus is Apple’s current flagship and the most expensive phones it sells, but it’s not the only choice as Apple doesn’t remove older phones from its store every time a new one comes out. Instead, it tends to limit the older phones’ storage options and lower the price. Since Apple doesn’t sell what you’d call a ‘mid-range’ phone, its previous flagships tend to sit in this spot.

The iPhone 6S, for example, starts at £499 and the iPhone 6S Plus at £599. Both of these phones saw a reduction when the iPhone 7 was released in 2017.
The iPhone SE is the odd one out. This tiny phone doesn’t have a direct competitor in the Android space, and feels almost like a throwback to older iPhones. It is the only option, aside from buying a used iPhone 5, if you don’t want to make the move to a pricier and larger iPhone. The iPhone SE felt like a strange move from Apple, and it’ll be interesting to see if an iPhone SE2 comes along.
